Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Monday kicked off consultations with states on the farm sector, with holding meetings with agriculture ministers of two states—Chhattisgarh and Assam.
In a statement, the Agriculture Ministry said that Chouhan has initiated “state-wise discussions”, under which the Union Minister held a meeting with a high-level delegation including Chhattisgarh Agriculture Minister Ramvichar Netam at Krishi Bhavan in New Delhi.
“During the discussion along with promoting pulses, oilseeds, horticulture etc. in Chhattisgarh, many other topics related to agriculture and farmers welfare were discussed,” it said, adding that the Centre will continue to provide all possible assistance to Chhattisgarh. “The Union Minister said there will be adequate availability of inputs like fertilizers, seeds in the Kharif season and he gave instructions to the concerned officials,” the statement said.
Chouhan also held discussions with Assam Agriculture Minister Atul Bora. “During the discussion along with promoting soil health, PMFBY, increasing storage capacity, horticulture etc. in Assam many other topics related to agriculture and farmers welfare were discussed,” the Agriculture Ministry said in a separate statement.
