A Delhi court will take a decision on the closure report filed in the POCSO case against BJP MP and outgoing WFI chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh on September 6, according to Public Prosecutor Atul Kumar Srivastava.
The father of the minor complainant in the sexual harassment case against Singh told the court during in-chamber proceedings that they were both satisfied with the police probe which found “no evidence” against the minister, Srivastava said. As the father and the minor are satisfied with the police report, cancellation of the POCSO FIR may be accepted, he added.
On July 4, during in-camera proceedings, Additional Sessions Judge Chhavi Kapoor had issued a notice seeking response from the victim and her father on the final report filed by the Delhi Police by August 1. On June 15, police had filed a 550-page report requesting cancellation of the POCSO case against Singh after the minor wrestler and her father withdrew their allegations against Singh in a fresh statement before a magistrate.
In April, the minor’s father had lodged a complaint against Singh for alleged sexual harassment, stalking and criminal intimidation.
On June 5, however, the girl had retracted her allegations before a magistrate.
On June 15, police had also filed a chargesheet against Singh and his associate Vinod Tomar on sexual harassment, stalking and abetment charges based on statements of six women wrestlers. The matter on the scrutiny of documents of the chargesheet is listed on August 3.
