A total of nine people have been apprehended for their alleged role in the killing of a 17-year-old boy in Northeast Delhi’s Seelampur on April 17, officers said on Sunday.
Eight more accused were held after Zikra, who calls herself ‘Lady Don’ and has been labelled the ‘mastermind’ in the murder case, was arrested on Friday. Efforts are on to recover the weapons used to commit the crime, officers said.
DCP (Northeast) Ashish Kumar Mishra said, “During the probe, evidence was collected against the accused — Zikra, another accused and the juveniles — who conspired to attack the victim. Five suspects aided the main accused in escaping and hiding. Their involvement in harbouring the accused has been established.”
The DCP said relevant evidence was collected, which confirmed the involvement of the accused. “It has come to light that one of them had an old rivalry with the deceased. On Thursday evening, the group caught hold of him and stabbed him,” the DCP said.
The victim was attacked near his home when he was on his way to buy milk. He later succumbed to his injuries.
Zikra was sent to police custody by a Delhi court for two days on Saturday for allegedly abetting the murder.
