Schoolgirl who took life wasn’t harassed: Police

The girl’s friends have told police that she was upset because the boy had turned down her proposal

West Delhi police on Friday ruled out an abetment to suicide angle in the Uttam Nagar suicide case. The parents of a 15-year-old schoolgirl, whose body was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her house, had alleged that a classmate had been harassing her. However, police denied any harassment by the boy.

A senior police officer said, “Investigations show that the boy was not harassing her. However, inquest proceedings are on and we are questioning the girl’s friends and relatives to ascertain what led her to take her life.”

The girl’s friends have told police that she was upset because the boy had turned down her proposal. Police said they were investigating that angle.
