It took 53 minutes for the A division match between Rohini FC and Dwarka FC to brighten up in otherwise a dull fixture. The match was heading to a goalless draw,when players from the teams,who were desperately seeking three points,clashed in an ugly brawl.
The fight started,when Rohini FCs winger Kobio was punched while trying to tackle Harish,who was at the receiving end of many of his harsh tackles. His teammate Deepak took it on himself to avenge and smacked Kobio from behind. It became free-for all as players from both sides,clashed for over five minutes,even as officials tried to calm the situation.
The brawl ended with both Kobio and Deepak getting their marching orders.
The officials controlled the situation and the play was smoothly carried on for the remaining seven minutes.
It is really very shameful on the part of these two teams. These incidents lack sportsman spirit. Disciplinary actions will be taken and a show cause notice will be served to both the teams shortly, said NK Bhatia,honorary secretary,DSA.
After the final whistle,Dwarka team apologised to Kobio.
The Dwarka team has offered me an apology but I just want to clear the issue with that player (Deepak), said an angry Kobio.
In the other match,Delhi Cantt were held to a 1-1 draw by Young Boysat the Ambedkar Stadium. Although Delhi Cantt looked the better side throughout the match,they failed to put away many clear opportunities.Delhi Cantt went ahead in the final minute of the first half with a simple tap in from Manish. Johan equalised for Young Boys with a low volley to split points.
