A retired ITBP jawan shot himself inside his house in Southwest Delhi’s Palam early on Friday, officers said. The deceased, aged 48, retired as Head Constable from ITBP two months ago.
DCP (Southwest) Manoj C. said that around 8:30 am, they received a PCR call regarding a firing at Palam village. Immediately, police staff reached the spot and found that the main door was bolted from inside. “On peeping from the small window above the main door, it was found that one person was lying unconscious on the floor,” the officer said.
For entering inside the premises, the window was broken and the door was opened from the inside. The DCP said that on inspection of the body, it was found that one bullet was on the forehead and the other was also on the chest.
The PCR caller, wife of the deceased, also reached the spot and stated that her husband had a licensed revolver and also stated that she had left for her parents’ house due to some quarrel with her husband.
“She did not disclose any foul play. The statement of family members of deceased have been recorded and the spot has been inspected by the FSL team. The body has been preserved at the DDU Hospital’s mortuary for post mortem and inquest proceedings have been initiated,” said a police officer.
