“The tyranny in Delhi has escalated to the point where the Chief Minister has been arrested… The way dictatorial tendencies are being executed, democracy is being murdered, and elected Chief Ministers of the Opposition are being arrested, it’s wrong, and voices will be raised against it in the mega rally,” he added.

According to the alliance, other leaders in attendance include RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav; JMM’s Champai Soren; former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren’s wife Kalpana; NCP’s Sharad Pawar; Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray; DMK’s Tiruchi M Siva; TMC’s Derek O’Brien; CPM’s Sitaram Yechury; CPI’s D Raja; the NC’s Farooq Abdullah; CPI-ML’s Dipankar Bhattacharya; and G Devarajan of the All India Forward Bloc.

Terming the venue the “birthplace of movements”, Rai said the AAP was undertaking a door-to-door invitation distribution drive to ensure the participation of as many people as possible.

Delhi Congress president Arvinder Singh Lovely said as part of the event, the party will focus on the five ‘Nyay guarantees’ promised by Rahul Gandhi during his Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra.

He also said Congress president Kharge had announced that the party will spare no effort in its “battle to save democracy and the Constitution, inside and outside Parliament” and the party’s campaigns for the Lok Sabha elections will focus on this. “The country is seeking a change, fed up with the hollow and unfulfilled promises of the Narendra Modi government. Congress will focus on ensuring justice to people based on the five ‘Nyay Guarantees’, which will be a game-changer in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections,” Lovely said.

“Congress workers have been fully activated across Delhi to mobilise people for the rally, which will be a historic event… BJP’s guarantees are a bunch of lies while Congress’ five ‘Nyay’ (justices) — Bhagidari Nyay, Kisan Nyay, Nari Nyay, Shramik Nyay and Yuva Nyay — giving 25 guarantees, five under each category, will empower all sections of people,” he added.

The Delhi Congress president added that thousands of party workers from all corners of the Capital will participate in the rally to “sound the bugle for Congress’s Lok Sabha poll campaign in Delhi.”
