The Delhi Police has lodged a case against a group of unidentified persons for allegedly sending a pre-recorded message threatening to take down the Indian flag at the G-20 venue in Pragati Maidan, officers said.
Officers said the case was lodged on the complaint of a passenger at the Delhi Airport who purportedly received the pre-recorded message after he arrived from Mumbai this week.
The message allegedly stated that the accused persons, purportedly Khalistan-supporters, were discussing removing the flag hoisted at the G-20 Pragati Maidan venue and were also talking about wanted Waris Punjab De chief Amritpal Singh.
Based on the complaint, the IGI Airport police station lodged an FIR under IPC sections 153 (provocation with intent to cause riot), 153A (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion etc) and 505 (statements conducive to public mischief).
DCP (IGI) Devesh Mahla said the case has further been transferred to the Special Cell.
