Several parts of the country are likely to get some respite from severe heatwave with the MeT department predicting scattered pre-monsoon showers over the next two days.

Partial overcast conditions and drop in mercury Tuesday provided some respite to residents in the national capital, a day after the national capital recorded the hottest day of the season so far at 44 degrees Celsius.

Also, the weatherman has not issued any heatwave warning for May 4 and 5.

“Because of the increase in the temperature, there is some moisture in the air. This has led to cloud formation, which will result in light rains,” S D Pai, a scientist with IMD, said.
