The Special Cell busted a drug ring, arrested two men from Nizamuddin and recovered contraband drugs worth Rs 2 crore on Friday.
Police, on the basis of a tipoff, laid a trap near the Oberoi Hotel flyover where Jumah Khan (28), an Afghan national, met Arif Ali (30) at 5 pm on Friday.
Khan was handing over 72 capsules (662 grams) and 50 grams of heroin to Ali when police caught them, police said.
“The gang used a novel method for transporting the contraband. After Khan received the drugs in the form of capsules from one Habib, he swallowed them and travelled to India with the capsules in his stomach. On reaching Delhi, he would take them out and deliver them to Arif,” Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Special Cell), said.
