Over 2,000 kg adulterated sweets seized in raid at Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar unit

According to the police, 10 people have been apprehended as of now, including the owner of the unit. They are being questioned to ascertain the culpability of workers in using the sub- standard material in the sweets.

Over 2,000 kg of adulterated sweets were seized by the Delhi Police Crime Branch on Thursday in New Delhi’s Raghubir Nagar following surprise raids at a manufacturing unit, the Delhi Police said.

“Today, a raid was conducted by the Southern Range, Crime Branch, in Raghubir Nagar, New Delhi… A huge quantity of boxes containing milk-based sweets (made using prohibited chemicals) was recovered. The sweets would be sold to various shops during the festive season. The total estimated weight of the food products is 2,000-2,500 kg,” DCP (Crime) Aditya Gautam said.
