Minorities have demanded that the BJP rein in its saffron affiliates and stop the RSS-backed programmes that allegedly target minorities.
The issue was raised at a meeting of senior BJP leaders with minority groups ahead of Assembly elections.
Minority groups that participated in the meeting demanded that the party rein in its affiliated organisations so that minorities can repose their trust in the party.
Muslims demanded that the BJP government should ensure religious freedom. Making Urdu the second official language of Delhi was another demand.
While Muslims demanded more representation in the Assembly elections, Christians demanded more Rajya Sabha seats for
themselves.
The Delhi BJP is organising meetings with various communities and groups ahead of Assembly elections to garner their support.
Representatives from temples, dharamshalas, religious organsiations and matths too participated in the meeting.
It was suggested that the national capital should have a ‘Kailash House’ on the lines of ‘Haj House’ and a bhawan dedicated to Kailash Mansarovar Yatra.
“These suggestions came from the representatives of religious organisations. If the party is willing to implement them, it shows their faith in us. If they believe in us, they would ask people to vote for us,” a senior leader present at the meeting said.
