In a move to streamline travel and improve passenger convenience, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) on Thursday launched the Multiple Journey QR Ticket (MJQRT) that eliminates the need for daily ticket purchases. Metro officials say the MJQRT offers passengers a simplified and eco-friendly alternative to traditional smart cards.
The new system now allows users to purchase multiple journey tickets via DMRC’s Delhi Metro Sarathi (also known as the Momentum 2.0) app. This app-exclusive feature will be available to users starting Friday, said a DMRC official.
To begin using the MJQRT, passengers must register on the app with a starting balance of Rs 150, which can be used for Metro travel. A bonus is that no security deposit is required for the MJQRT. Users can easily recharge on the app in multiples of Rs 50 using UPI, credit cards, and debit cards, with a maximum balance limit of Rs 3,000.
Additionally, the MJQRT provides several financial benefits to commuters. A minimum balance of Rs 60 is required to travel while passengers can enjoy discounts on their journeys — 10 per cent during peak hours (8 am to 12 pm and 5 pm to 9 pm) and 20 per cent during off-peak hours.
Security is also a key feature of the MJQRT, said officials. In the event of theft, loss, or damage to a mobile device, the balance remains intact, and passengers can resume using the service by logging in on another device, the DMRC said.
1. Open the app and select the “Multiple Journey QR Ticket” option.
2. Read and accept the terms and conditions, then proceed to the next step.
3. Add balance to your account.
4. Select your preferred payment method and complete the transaction.
5. Once the balance has been added, click on the ‘Show QR code’ button to generate your QR code.
