Man strangles 21-year-old partner in Gurgaon over ‘cheating’ suspicion; arrested

“The trigger for the murder was the suspicion that Shalu was cheating on the relationship by talking to other men, leading to an argument between the couple,” a police spokesperson said.

The incident came to light after the Sector-7 IMT Manesar police station on Monday received information about an alleged murder in Kasan Ki Dhani.

Upon reaching the spot, they found Shalu’s body, identified by her cousin, who lived with the victim in a rented room in Kasan Ki Dhani, police said. Shalu, originally from Bailon village in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, worked at a private company in IMT Manesar.

The body was sent for a post-mortem, and forensic teams examined the crime scene, police said.

Shalu’s father in his complaint, alleged that on Sunday night, around 10 pm, Vivek and another man, Sachin, both hailing from Bailon, visited her room.

The victim’s cousin, who was asleep at the time, found her dead the next morning. The police have registered a murder case under relevant sections.

“Acting swiftly, the police arrested Vivek on September 16 in Naurangpur, Gurgaon. During questioning, Vivek, who lives with his brother in Delhi and works at a private company, admitted to the crime,” officer said.

He revealed that he had been in a relationship with Shalu for five years and frequently visited her from Delhi, police added.

“For the past five months, Shalu had been working in IMT Manesar. The couple often argued over her interactions with other men, resulting in a heated dispute on the night of September 14. This dispute led Vivek to commit the alleged murder,” the officer said.

The police are continuing their investigation, and further action is being taken as per law, officers added.
