Dressing up as ‘Spider-Man’ and posing on the bonnet of a moving car in Dwarka landed a West Delhi resident in trouble who was apprehended by the police on Monday. Besides, the driver and owner of the car were also prosecuted.
The Delhi Traffic police took note of the offence after people complained on social media about the episode.
The man who dressed up as Spider-man has been identified as Aditya, 20, who is a Najafgarh resident. The driver was identified as Gaurav Singh, 19, a resident of Mahavir Enclave.
“The car was registered in the name of the driver’s father. We have registered a case for negligent driving, driving without a pollution certificate, and driving without seat belt,” said a police official. “The youngsters were making videos for attention on social media,” he said.
A fine of Rs 26,000 was imposed for dangerous driving and other violations, officials said.
According to the police, they received a complaint on social media platform X about a Scorpio car seen on Dwarka roads with a person dressed as Spiderman on its bonnet. Police traced the car and located the occupants near Ramphal Chowk, Dwarka.
“Such reckless behaviour on the roads will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against offenders to uphold the law and protect the lives of road users,,” Delhi Police said as it urged citizens to report any instance of dangerous driving or traffic violations promptly.
“Public cooperationis vital in maintaining road safety and ensuring the smooth flow of traffic in the city,” an officer said.
