As the mercury begins its climb, power outage is back in Gurgaon.

As the mercury begins its climb, power outage is back in Gurgaon.

Several unscheduled power cuts have been reported from most parts of the city, with residents claiming that the outage started on Monday.

Sources said power generation for the city dipped to 900 MW on Tuesday morning. This, however, stabilised towards the evening with generation touching 1,500 MW.

Haryana Power minister said the outage was a result of low generation at plants in Panipat,Hisar (Khedar) and Yamunanagar.

“Two units at Panipat, one at Khedar and two units at Yamunanagar were malfunctioning since Monday. However,we are working on Khedar plant and the situation is expected to be better in the next 24 hours,” said Captain Ajay Singh Yadav,Haryana Power Minister.

The power distribution company,Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, reported several complaints from consumers, with its helpline ringing through the day.

Senior official of Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam,Subhash Deswal, said the distribution company had recently recorded a demand of more than 1,000 MW in Gurgaon alone. The peak summer demand of the city at times touches 1,200 MW.
