The coming seven days are crucial to completing all projects related to the G-20 Summit, L-G VK Saxena stressed post a review meeting to assess preparations.
Enquiring about power supply for the venue, the L-G asked the Power Department to ensure it is glitch-free. He directed that mock drills should be carried out to meet any eventuality. He also said there should be seamless coordination between the Power Department and officials of ITPO.
For medical exigencies, the L-G was informed that all government hospitals are fully prepared and equipped. Apart from 80 teams of doctors and trained medical personnel, with three teams in each hospitals, 70 advanced and 60 well-equipped ambulances will be put in service during the event.
The Fire department was directed that tenders should be parked at designated hotels. The L-G also directed that a fire safety audit at hotels be carried out on priority. A total of 66 fire tenders have been kept ready.
Saxena was informed that police are booking those involved in defacing public property. Steps are also being taken to ensure stray cattle and street dogs are suitably handled and police, along with civic bodies, are carrying out the task, L-G House officials said.
The L-G agreed with the suggestion to document the process followed for preparedness of an event like the G20 Summit, which will help the country be ready for any mega events in the future. The next review meeting is scheduled for August 31.
