Courts and pitches for badminton, lawn tennis, pickleball, cricket, along with a children’s park, a jogging track — these are among the amenities present in the new mini sports complex inaugurated by Lieutenant Governor (L-G) V K Saxena in Sukhdev Vihar on Thursday.
The facility, developed by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), is spread over an area of around 7,550 square metres and offers a range of outdoor sports infrastructure. The complex is open to the public on a pay-and-play basis. It is one of four mini sports complexes developed by the DDA in the city.
“Since taking charge in May 2022 as L-G, I ensured that people of Delhi should get adequate sports facilities. I am happy to dedicate this facility to the residents of Delhi…,” Saxena said. MP from South Delhi, Ramvir Singh Bidhuri and DDA Vice-Chairman N Saravana Kumar were among officials present at the event.
The DDA has recently undertaken a series of sports infrastructure projects across Delhi. At present, the DDA operates 18 sports complexes, four mini sports complexes and three golf courses in the city.
