Keren Shlomo ensured India’s participation in the women’s $10,000 ITF Futures tournament did not go beyond the semi-final stage. The fifth-seed Israeli registered an easy 6-3 6-2 win against sixth-seed Rushmi Chakravarthi at the DLTA complex here on Friday and set up a title clash with China’s Ying-Ying Duan. Duan beat compatriot Yi Zhong 6-1 6-3 in the other semi-final.

Although ranked 33 places below Chakravarthi, world No 528 Shlomo was the better of the two. The 21-year old is now one step away from winning her maiden tour title.

However,Chakravarthi had her revenge when she and her Chinese partner Chun-Yan He lifted the doubles title, defeating Shlomo and Australia’s Kristina Pejkovic 6-2 6-1 in the final. The unseeded Indo-Chinese pair shocked the second seeds with their better co-ordination and forced the latter into committing errors and capitalised on them, without dropping their serve even once.
