With eight portfolios and more, Kailash Gahlot now No 2 in AAP’s Delhi Cabinet

With the charge of eight significant government departments, in addition to all the others that have not specifically been allotted to any of his colleagues, Kailash Gahlot has become the second-most significant individual in the AAP Delhi government’s council of ministers after Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, whose name is not on the portfolio list.

According to a notification issued by the Delhi government’s General Administration Department regarding the allocation of portfolios following the swearing-in of AAP MLAs Saurabh Bharadwaj and Atishi on Thursday, Gahlot has the highest number of portfolios while Ballimaran AAP MLA Imran Hussain, with two (food and civil supplies, and elections), has the lowest.

According to the notification, Gahlot has charge of the home, revenue, finance, law, justice and legislative affairs, transport, administrative reforms, information and technology and planning departments, in addition to all the other departments not specifically allotted to any minister.

With seven portfolios each, Raaj Kumar Anand and newly-inducted Bharadwaj have been allocated significant departments from Satyendar Jain and Manish Sisodia’s earlier rosters.

Anand has charge of gurudwara elections, SC&ST, social welfare, cooperatives, land & building and labour and employment while Bharadwaj has been given charge of urban development, water, irrigation and flood control, vigilance, services, health and industries.

Gopal Rai holds the development, general administration department as well as environment, forest and wildlife departments while Atishi has been allotted the women and child development, public works department, power, education, art, culture & language and tourism portfolios.
