‘Heard a loud sound’: FIR lodged on cop’s complaint in Red Fort blast case

An FIR, registered on the complaint of an inspector of a local police station a day after a blast took place near the Red Fort, stated that on reaching the spot on Monday, he found that some people had been killed and several vehicles damaged.

A source said the FIR also mentions that the inspector had heard a “loud sound of explosion”.

The FIR, which includes charges of murder and attempted murder, was registered early on Tuesday at the Kotwali police station, The Indian Express has learnt.

Unknown persons were booked under sections 16/18 of the UAPA, 3/4 Explosive Substances Act and Sections 103(1) (murder), 109 (attempt to murder) and 61(2) (criminal conspiracy) of the BNS.

A police source said that shortly after the incident on Monday, the Police Control Room (PCR) received two distress calls — one made around 6.52 pm by a constable posted at Red Fort police post, another from a commuter minutes later.

Soon after the blast in a moving car on Monday, over a dozen vehicles around it were gutted in fire — injuring or killing the people inside.
