Days after Gurgaon MP and Union Minister of State Rao Inderjit Singh announced that the foundation stone of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Haryana’s Rewari will be laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 16, the BJP on Sunday convened a meeting to strategise for a rally.
The party hopes to attract over 1 lakh people for the event, state president Nayab Saini said during the meeting at the Gurgaon office. He said the excitement in the region is palpable, with a commitment to surpass the success of the 2013 rally in Rewari, expecting many to attend from the four southern Haryana districts of Mahendragarh, Rewari, Faridabad and Nuh.
Saini added that people from other constituencies would also watch the rally on LED screens and listen to PM Modi’s address. “The enthusiasm indicates that the public will once again give all ten of Haryana’s Lok Sabha seats to PM Modi in the upcoming elections and since Chief Minister M L Khattar has provided jobs to the state’s youths, it is certain that a double-engine government will be formed again,” he asserted.
BJP parliamentary board member Dr Sudha Yadav urged all workers to participate in the rally, acknowledging the high energy among them.
AIIMS, Rewari will be built on 210 acres in Majra Balkhi village with 750 beds, a medical college with 100 seats, a nursing college and 25 super-specialty departments in the OPD. It will be the 22nd AIIMS in the country. Its construction was announced in the 2019-20 Union Budget.
It was Rao Inderjit Singh who raised the demand for the AIIMS before Khattar at a public meeting in Bawal constituency. However, the land in Manethi – which was initially identified for the project – fell under the Aravalli forest area, forcing the government to shift it to Majra Balkhi village.
