Raids conducted at 2 Gurgaon godowns, non-green firecrackers seized

Ahead of the festival season, the Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner had imposed a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers to control pollution.

The Chief Minister’s Flying Squad conducted raids at two godowns in Gurgaon’s Daboda, that had stored non-green firecrackers, officials said. Approximately 3 tonnes of non-green crackers were seized from two warehouses and three persons arrested.

Ahead of the festival season, the Gurgaon Deputy Commissioner had imposed a ban on the sale and use of firecrackers to control pollution. DC Nishant Kumar Yadav had said green firecrackers will be allowed only on specific occasions within a particular time period.

According to Inspector Dharamvir Singh of the Gurgaon Police, FIRs have been registered against two men under IPC section 188 and Section 9B of the Explosive Act 1884 on Friday.

Samples of different types of fireworks were also seized from the godowns; they were placed in a plastic bag and marked with the seal ‘SK,’ amounting to a total of 20 kg’, the FIR said. The samples were later sent to the Explosives Branch in Faridabad.
