A day after the shooting incidents at two property dealers’ offices in Nangloi and Alipur, the Delhi Police on Tuesday nabbed two members of the infamous Gogi gang, including a minor, in an encounter.

The Crime Branch has arrested sharpshooter Akash Rathore, 18, and apprehended his accomplice, a 17-year-old, from Narela in an encounter, said Sanjay Bhatia, Additional CP (Crime Branch).

According to the police, on November 4, three bike-borne men opened fire outside the shop of a property dealer in Nangloi around 1.30 pm, followed by a similar event at Alipur at 3 pm.

A police officer said that they had recovered a note mentioning the name of the Jitender Gogi gang and its deceased member Kuldeep Fajja from outside the Nangloi shop.

Additional CP Bhatia said that during interrogation, Rathore revealed that they were members of the Gogi gang and had carried out the shootings in Nangloi and Alipur as part of their extortion scheme.

“He further disclosed that they were acting on the orders of notorious gangsters Yogesh aka Tunda and Monty Maan, along with their associate Ram Niwas aka Mogli,” Bhatia said, adding that that a stolen scooter and a sophisticated pistol with three live cartridges were recovered.

Following the shooting incidents, a team led by Crime Branch ACP Vivek Tyagi and under the supervision of DCP Satish Kumar launched an investigation, analysing technical and manual inputs, including CCTV footage, which revealed that the same individuals were involved in both shootings.

The team apprehended the two shooters around 8.15 pm based on a tip-off.

A brief exchange of fire took place when the suspects tried to escape, said an officer.

“Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee. One of them drew a firearm and aimed it at the officers, prompting an immediate response. Despite the danger, Head constable Narender bravely tackled the armed suspect, while Sub-Inspector Ajit and the team apprehended the second suspect,” said Bhatia.
