A 23-year-old woman was found dead in a hotel room in Ghaziabad’s Dasna town on Sunday, the police said, adding that the woman’s friend was booked for murder following a complaint from her family. The friend had allegedly called the woman’s brother and informed him about her death.

The incident took place in a hotel in the jurisdiction of the Wave City police station.

The police identified the woman as Shehzaadi, a resident of Dhaulana in Hapur, and her friend as Azharuddin (35), a resident of Kallu Garhi in Masuri. Azharuddin is currently absconding.

Initial investigations have revealed that Shehzaadi came to the hotel with Azharuddin on Saturday. The man locked the hotel from outside and informed the family of her death the next morning, the police said.

“The body has been sent for postmortem. The family members said that Azharuddin had informed her brother that his sister was lying dead in the hotel. They also said that she was to get married on November 14,” said Assistant Commissioner of Police, Wave City, Saloni Aggarwal.

The actual reason for her death will only be known after the autopsy, the police added. A first information report under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at the Wave City police station.
