Ghaziabad van driver arrested for sexually abusing 3-year-old girl while taking her from playschool to home

“In our investigation, we found that the driver stopped the van for five minutes in an isolated area after dropping other children in the cab. The child returned from her school Thursday and started crying while urinating. When the mother enquired, the child told the mother about the pain in her private area. The mother then took her to the doctor and the doctor confirmed the sexual abuse,” said the officer.

The police said they filed an FIR against the accused under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act and Section 65(2) [rape] of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

“The accused works as a private cab driver and used to pick and drop the girl. The girl started to attend school at the beginning of April. We arrested him and sent the child for medical examination and the report confirms sexual assault,” a police officer said.

The girl’s father works in another state, so the family hired a private cab for her after she started to attend school earlier this month, said the police.

The police also said they found that the playschool neither conducted any police verification before appointing the driver nor followed proper protocols.
