An FIR was registered on Thursday against “unidentified” security personnel for allegedly attacking a doctor under a flyover near the Hindon river in Ghaziabad a day before, police said.
Police have found that the security personnel in question, drawn from the CRPF and police, of poet Kumar Vishwas, a former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, were involved in the incident.
Dr Pallav Vajpayee, a resident of Pratap Vihar in the city, alleged that he was beaten up by some security personnel after the vehicle they were travelling in tried to overtake his car. Later, Vishwas claimed it was his security men who were attacked by a man for “unknown reasons”.
“We have registered the FIR on the basis of the complaint of the doctor who alleged that he was attacked by some security men. But as of now, it is not mentioned in the FIR that they were Vishwas’ security personnel. While recording the statements, we will add the names in the FIR if the complainant names them,” said Indirapuram Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) Swatantra Kumar Singh.
The allegations by Vishwas regarding an attack on his convoy by an unknown person is false, the ACP said.
An FIR under IPC sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with deadly weapon), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 392 (robbery) was registered at the Indrapuram police station.
