There was a time when Ghaziabad served as the plot for films made on gang war and crime, but today it has emerged as a model of development, cleanliness, and good management, said Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while unveiling the plan for Greater Ghaziabad on Thursday.

“Ghaziabad has made its mark as a developed city in eight years. Eight years ago, nobody could think of the 12-lane Greenfield Expressway. Today, the first rapid rail of the country will cross through Ghaziabad. It is emerging as the new Ghaziabad. It is among the 50 cleanest cities in the world and is the first city in the state to be named the cleanest city,” he said.

Emphasising that Greater Ghaziabad is crucial for the development of the district, the CM said the Ghaziabad municipal corporation will be developed and include areas of Loni, Khoda, and Muradnagar Nagar municipal councils.

At the event, held at Indirapuram’s Mansarovar Bhawan, Adityanath also spoke about the restoration of the Hindon River. “The river will be restored using ancient cleanliness methods,” he said.

“The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) will also complete pending work on the cricket stadium and operate it,” he added.

The Chief Minister also spoke about construction work on the Dudheshwar Nath temple corridor. He said a new district headquarters is being built where all departments will be under one roof, and a new police headquarters is also being built to strengthen law and order.
