The Delhi government will provide free electricity up to 1,200 units to Ramleela and Durga Puja committees and meters for the same will be installed on just 25% security deposit, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said on Saturday.
Moreover, to ease administrative hurdles, the government will issue no-objectionable certificates (NOC) for various services through a single-window system, eliminating the need for these organising committees to approach multiple departments, the CM said.
Gupta added that public amenities such as toilets, security arrangements, healthcare services, ambulances and fire brigades will also be ensured at the venues of Ramleela and Durga Puja.
She made the announcements after meeting representatives of Ramleela and Durga Puja committees at the Delhi Secretariat. “We have decided that just as we had helped the Kanwar Yatra committees, in the same way, the Delhi government will provide 1,200 units of free electricity to all Ramleela and Durga Puja committees as a gift,” Gupta said.
The CM said that the organising committees now need not run from pillar to post to get NOCs, as the government will implement a single window system to get approvals from different departments like the Delhi Development Authority, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Fire Services, and others.
“This will spare organisers the trouble of approaching multiple offices… this reform ensures that all formalities will now be resolved at the district level through the district magistrate’s office,” she added.
Additionally, the security deposit for land to be allocated to the committees to organise these events has been reduced from Rs 20 per sq m to Rs 15 per sq m, said Gupta.
The government has also formed a six-member committee to promptly resolve any festival-related issues. Comprehensive arrangements at festival venues will include providing cleanliness, fogging, sanitation, medical, fire safety, police deployment and traffic management facilities, the CMO said in a statement.
While Ramleela celebrations will begin from September 22, Durga Puja festival will start on September 28. Both will continue until October 2.
The CM also said that one of the Ramleela and Durga Puja days will be dedicated to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, as part of the Seva Pakhwada beginning on September 17, his 75th birthday.
