Four men gets life terms for murder,robbery cases

A man was sentenced to life in prison for battering his sister-in-law to death for refusing to wash his clothes,while three other persons also got life imprisonment for separate incidents of robbery and murder.

A man was sentenced to life in prison for battering his sister-in-law to death for refusing to wash his clothes,while three other persons also got life imprisonment for separate incidents of robbery and murder.

Various city courts pronounced the sentences during hearings on Wednesday.

Additional Sessions Judge Nisha Saxena convicted 35-year-old Raju for battering his newly-wed sister-in-law to death with a stone. He has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder under Section 304 (Part I) of the IPC.

The prosecution said Raju had repeatedly hit his 19-year-old sister-in-law on her head with a stone after she refused to wash his clothes. She bled to death.

The court sentenced him to rigorous imprisonment for life with a fine of Rs 10,000.

In a separate case,Additional Sessions Judge Narinder Kumar sentenced Mukesh Kumar and his accomplice to life imprisonment and fine of Rs 40,000 for robbery and murder of a professor of Sachdeva PT College.

Mukesh Kumar,who has been declared a proclaimed offender,was convicted on the basis of circumstantial evidence since he and his accomplice were seen at the professor’s home. The professor’s mobile phone was also recovered from him.

In another court,Additional Sessions Judge Virender Kumar Goyal convicted Mohammad Alam (24) and Mohammad Iqhlak (22) for robbing and murdering 30-year-old Satish,who had gone to a tent house for booking a generator on March 20,2010,and his body was recovered two days later.

The court referred their accomplice,who is a minor,to the Juvenile Justice Board.

Police arrested the trio,then working at a factory,and the mobile phone and wristwatch of the victim were recovered from them.
