With flagship courses on offer, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University’s East campus almost ready

The East campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), formerly Indraprastha University, in Delhi is almost ready and expected to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal soon.

With modern laboratories, sports halls, a library, and hostel blocks, the campus will accommodate 2,400 students and be powered by solar energy with the provision of solar panels on every building.

The campus, according to the government, will offer various flagship courses such as BTech in Automation and Robotics, BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, BTech in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning.

“This magnificent campus has been designed to meet the demands of 21st-century skills and will provide students with a world-class education. We are confident that it will be a game-changer for higher education in India,” Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi said.

According to the government, five specialised centres, including those for Robotics & Automation, Design & Innovation, Fire Management, and Liberal Arts are being constructed at the campus.

The campus includes a nine-storey and a seven-storey academic blocks and four lecture halls each with a capacity of 120 people. In addition, there are 24 classrooms with a capacity of 100 each. A sports hall with a capacity of 300 people has also been built here, and a five-storey auditorium block with a total capacity of 650 people has also been constructed.

Separate hostels for boys and girls with the capacity of 500 and residential blocks have been constructed for students. Other facilities include 48 staff quarters, a sports hall, two tennis courts and a football field.
