The Delhi Government will organise a Bhojpuri conference for the first time in the national capital to bring international recognition to Delhi’s cultural diversity and strengthen ties with the global Indian diaspora.
The Bhojpuri conference will be a major highlight of this year, and scholars, diplomats, and dignitaries from Mauritius, Fiji, and other countries will be invited. This will bring international recognition to Delhi’s cultural diversity and strengthen ties with the global Indian diaspora, said officials.
Delhi Art, Culture and Language Minister Kapil Mishra held a meeting with secretaries and senior officials of the Sahitya Kala Parishad, Hindi Academy, Urdu Academy, Sindhi Academy, Sanskrit Academy, Maithili-Bhojpuri Academy, Garhwali-Kumaoni-Jaunsari Academy, Dr G G L S Prachya Vidhya Prathisthanam, and other institutions.
According to officials, the objective of the meeting was to review preparations for upcoming cultural, literary, and artistic programmes and to develop a coordinated plan for the promotion of language and culture.
“Organising events alone is not enough; it is equally important to spread awareness and ensure active participation of the public. Only when more and more people join these programmes will there be a rise in public consciousness about art, culture and language,” said Mishra.
“Delhi is a confluence of various languages, arts, and cultures. Our effort is not only to preserve our heritage but also to ensure that the younger generation remains connected to it and feels proud of it. These programmes will enrich and enliven the cultural landscape of Delhi,” the minister said.
During the discussion, it was decided that maximum public participation will be ensured in all major programmes organised by the academies. To this effect, the ACL Department signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with each academy.
Officials said these agreements ensure that the grants provided by the Delhi Government to the academies will be utilised only for their approved purposes. They added that this will not only enhance financial transparency but also ensure that public funds are directly invested in cultural programmes and creative activities.
