Delhi’s Food and Civil Supplies Minister Imran Hussain has issued directions to ensure sanitation and cleanliness in the capital’s walled city area for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festivities.

Chairing an important meeting in this regard on Thursday, Hussain directed the officials across various government departments to ensure adequate hygiene, sanitation and cleanliness on roads and streets around religious places.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi was instructed to provide sufficient manpower to clean streets and lanes in the morning and late evenings especially at Chamelian Road, Ram Kumar Marg, Jhandelwalan Road, Qutub Road, Fatehpuri, Chandni Chowk, Eidgah and its surroundings.

Hussain directed Delhi Jal Board officials to distribute water equitably with increased water pressure to residents and ensure proper drainage maintenance and uninterrupted freshwater supply.

The minister urged officials to ensure arrangements for water tankers near religious places so that devotees do not face water-related issues during the summer season.

He also asked PWD officers to deep-clean the main roads and footpaths, especially between Chandni Chowk to Fatehpuri and the Jama Masjid area in addition to disposing of garbage from dividers on main roads.
