A woman was killed and eight people were injured after a wall of an under-construction hospital basement collapsed on Thursday evening in Delhi’s Dwarka Sector 12.
According to the police, two head constables of the North Dwarka police station were patrolling the area at around 6.30 pm when they saw people gathered near an under-construction building, near a petrol pump in Dwarka Sector 12. The constables learnt that the wall of an under-construction basement on the northeast side of the building had collapsed.
“All the injured were masons and workers. Apart from the deceased, everyone received minor injuries and all are safe,” a police official at the Dwarka deputy commissioner of police’s office said.
The deceased was identified as Devi, 35, from Kakarwai in Uttar Pradesh’s Jhansi. She is survived by her husband Santosh Pal and three children, Neha, 24, Sangeeta, 18, and Saurabh, 12.
The injured are being treated at the Indira Gandhi Hospital and Aakash Healthcare hospital.
A case will be registered soon, the police said.
