Seeking to argue that there had been no hike in power tariffs in Delhi since 2014, the capital’s power distribution companies (discoms) have requested the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) to allow ‘cost-reflective tariff’ for the ongoing fiscal to maintain ‘uninterrupted and quality power supply’ to consumers.
Alleging that the tariff determination process followed by DERC is in contravention of established guidelines and law, especially the implementation of the Business Plan Regulations by a one-member DERC which is currently without a chairperson, sources said discoms have taken their grievance against these to the Delhi High Court — an unprecedented move — seeking an interim stay against their enforcement.
Officials from discoms refused to comment on the development.
