After becoming the only player of Indian origin to figure in the football World Cup,former France international Vikash Dhorasoo is now on the lookout for more footballing talent among the city’s street children. Dhorasoo will kick off the first ever DSC Soccer Baalak Ki Khoj here,an initiative to discover talent among street children. The selected children will be sponsored for training and exposure to professional football.

Dhorasoo will also lead a team of street children in an exhibition match against a side led by Indian international Renedy Singh on Saturday at 10 am at St. Columba’s School here. Dhorasoo, who has 18 international caps for France and has played for for top European clubs like Bordeaux,AC Milan and Paris Saint-Germain,had met FIFA officials to discuss his role in the ‘Win in India with India’ project, launched by FIFA president Sepp Blatter in 2007.

“I’ve been delighted to see how FIFA’s perspective on football in India corresponds with my own vision. I have the impression that in every country in which FIFA chooses to start a project, there is also a social component to it,and I like that,” he said.
