Nursery teacher Sakshi Kapoors father Ashok Kapoor is at a loss to explain why his daughter should murder his wife Kiran,but he is not shying away from duty.
He will provide Sakshi legal assistance to plead the case,he said,after meeting his daughter on Thursday.
Kapoor said,I dont know what drove Sakshi to kill her mother. She is my daughter and I did not ask her why she was so merciless. I met Sakshi in police custody today,but could not bring myself to ask anything. I want to move on. I am mentally tired.
He added the family was leaving for Haridwar to immerse Kiran Kapoors ashes in the Ganga. She was always a doting mother; she never differentiated between her son and her daughter. We have only tried to be model parents, he said.
The 26-year-old and her friend,Sunny Batra,were arrested by the Delhi Police on Tuesday on charges of murder.
The police,meanwhile,raided Sunny Batras home on Thursday in their search for incriminating evidence. The police believe the two tried to strangle Kiran Kapoor with an electric wire. Cops are searching for the wire and also the clothes Sakshi wore that day. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Sharad Aggarwal told Newsline: We did not find these in Batras house.
Sakshi and Batra will be produced in a city court on Friday.
