AAP goes to school on ads
A full-page Delhi government advertisement in newspapers on July 7 read, “Why the people of Delhi should suffer?” The advertisement was berating the Centre over the transfer of bureaucrats. Six days later, the government issued another full-page advertisement on the Centre not clearing key AAP introduced legislation in education, only this time the advertisement was titled, “Why should the people of Delhi suffer?” Clearly, the AAP-led Delhi government is paying attention to grammar used in newspaper advertisements.
Congress pulls a fast one
The Congress, smaller in number in all three municipal corporations of the city, recently managed to defeat a proposal of the ruling party by a single vote in an important committee meeting. The Congress kept its members outside the meeting hall till the BJP allowed a vote and slowly trickled in by voting time. BJP was caught off guard and lost the vote on a proposal for which the mayor had already given an anticipatory approval. However, the leader of the house, Subhash Arya said the party will take the proposal to the House meeting, stating that the “House is supreme”.
Tweeting his way to the CM
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who has been using Twitter to give directions to his ministers, also gave an appointment to actor Irrfan Khan over the micro-blogging website. The actor had earlier tweeted the Prime Minister’s Office, office of Rahul Gandhi and Kejriwal. He said he was a “common citizen” who wanted to meet them with some questions. Kejriwal replied to his tweet giving him an appointment on Tuesday at 11 am in his office.
