Delhi Red Fort Blast: A blast near Delhi’s Red Fort on Monday evening set off panic across the area, with several cars catching fire outside the Lal Quila metro station.
At least 13 people have died and several have been taken to the LNJP hospital after the incident, and police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the explosion.

An explosion occurred near the Red Fort in Old Delhi at 6.52 pm on Monday. The blast reportedly took place in a car outside the Lal Quila Metro station. Several vehicles caught fire, and initial reports confirm 13 deaths and several injuries.
Authorities have identified the site of the explosion as outside Gate 1 of the Red Fort Metro station, located on the road connecting Delhi Gate to Kashmere Gate. The area is a busy stretch opposite the road leading to Chandni Chowk and about 1.5 kilometres from Jama Masjid.
The incident took place on Monday evening in a densely populated part of Old Delhi. A slow-moving vehicle stopped at the red light following which the explosion took place at 6.52 pm. Nearly 2-3 people were seated inside the car, says Delhi police Commisioner Satish Golcha.
Firefighting vehicles and police teams, including officers from the Delhi Police Special Cell, are at the spot. The injured have been taken to LNJP Hospital. Visuals from the site showed flames and thick smoke rising from multiple cars.
Delhi Police has restricted Entry/exit of Gate no. 1 & 4 at Lal Qila. The authorities have confirmed that metro operations are normal at present.
The toll from the Red Fort explosion has shot up. At least 13 people have died and several others have been injured.
According to the Delhi Fire Department, the blaze was brought under control by 7:29 pm on Monday.
Uttar Pradesh ADG Law and Order Amitabh Yash said that the DGP has issued instructions to all senior officials in Uttar Pradesh to increase security at sensitive religious sites, sensitive districts, and border areas. All security agencies have also been alerted. Police in all districts of Uttar Pradesh have been put on alert. An order was issued from Lucknow to increase patrols and checks in sensitive areas.

The Noida Police is conducting foot patrolling in Sector-62 and other crowded places in the vicinity and under the jurisdiction of Noida’s Sector-58 Police station. The station in-charge has been directed to erect barricades and stop suspicious-looking vehicles and check them thoroughly.
Market association president Sanjay Bhargaw stated that the Chandni Chowk market to be closed on Tuesday following the blast near the Red Fort.
Delhi, Gujarat, Mumbai, Chandigarh, Pune, Uttar Pradesh, and Kolkata have all been placed on high alert following the explosion near the Red Fort in Old Delhi on Monday evening.
