IMD issues yellow alert: IMD issued a yellow alert for the day, forecasting a cloudy sky with moderate rain and thunderstorms. On Sunday, the national capital recorded a minimum temperature of 26.8°C, according to IMD. Air quality remained in the “satisfactory” category, with an AQI of 85, as per the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).

The police rescued around 162 students who were trapped in an private school building inundated due to heavy rain in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district.

The monsoon on Sunday covered Delhi two days after the normal date of June 27 and advanced over the remaining parts of the country nine days before the usual date of July 8, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
According to IMD data, this is the earliest the monsoon has covered the entire country since 2020, when it did so by June 26.
"The monsoon has further advanced into remaining parts of Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh and Haryana and entire Delhi today, June 29 2025," the IMD said in a statement. (PTI)
This year, the monsoon arrived over the Andaman Sea and the neighbouring areas on May 13 and its progress into Kerala was marked on May 24 — both ahead of normal by nearly a week.
Except for the period May 29 – June 15 , when it had remained stalled, the monsoon’s advance remained swift and was favoured by multiple favourbale weather systems both at regional and global-scales.
Monsoon arrived in Delhi on Sunday, a day ahead of the normal date of June 30 and advanced over remaining parts of India nine days before the usual date of July 8, the India Meteorological Department said.
According to IMD data, this is only the tenth occasion since 1960 when the monsoon covered the entire country in June, which is also the onset month.

Heavy rain in parts of the national capital on Saturday led to traffic disruption on PRAT Road in Sheikh Sarai, heading towards BRT Road in Chirag Delhi. Commuters faced long delays as waterlogging and reduced visibility slowed down vehicle movement.
Several parts of Delhi-NCR witnessed varying intensities of rainfall, bringing much needed relief from the heat on Saturday. Palam recorded the highest rainfall within Delhi at 10 mm, followed by Pushp Vihar with 7 mm, IGNOU at 3 mm, and both Ayanagar and Jafarpur logging 5 mm each.
In the adjoining NCR region, Faridabad received the heaviest downpour at 12 mm, closely trailed by Gurugram with 11 mm.
The showers, though scattered, brought a welcome dip in temperatures and added to the seasonal monsoon tally.

The expected areas to be isolated areas of Delhi include Kanjhawala as well as parts of western Uttar Pradesh, such as Bijnaur, Sakoti Tanda, Hastinapur, Chandpur, and Daurala.
The wet weather conditions in Delhi-NCR may gain intensity late evening and/or tonight.
The IMD has predicted thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, and light to moderate rainfall in Delhi this evening.
Parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) are likely to experience light rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds, with speed reaching 30-40 kmph, over the next two hours, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) stated, while sounding a “yellow” alert.
The wet weather conditions will prevail at isolated places of Delhi (Rohini, Badili, Pitampura, Lodi Road, Nehru Stadium), NCR (Ghaziabad, Dadri, Greater Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Manesar, Ballabhgarh) Chandpur, Kithor, Garhmukteshwar, Pilakhua, Hapur, Gulaoti, Siyana, Bulandshahar, Jahangirabad, Shikarpur, Khurja, Gabhana, Jattari, Khair, Iglas, Hathras, Jalesar, Agra (U.P.) Nagar, Laxmangarh (Rajasthan), over the next two hours.
Meanwhile, Northwest, Northeast and Southeast will likely witness light rain/drizzle this afternoon.
