The Delhi Police has issued an order granting two-day leave to its personnel on the success of the G20 summit, officers said Monday. This comes after they worked for three days straight from September 8 to 10 for the Summit.

Senior police officers said that officers below the rank of inspectors will be given a 48-hour break, shift-wise, in order to ensure sufficient rest for them to continue their duties. The order was passed on Monday after the Delhi Police Commissioner praised them for their efforts for an incident-less Summit. “This won’t affect the general law and order duties of the police personnel. We have created a list of personnel who will be given a holiday shift-wise,” said an officer.

A senior police officer said that a schedule to give DCPs a shift-wise break because of the efforts put in during the Summit will also be created later and passed accordingly.

More than half of the Delhi Police force was deployed across the capital, especially in the New Delhi district, to maintain a cordon and ensure safe passage for dignitaries to the Pragati Maidan venue of the Summit and other areas that they visited.
