Delhi Today News Live Updates: Haryana-based Al Falah University generated Rs 415 crore proceeds of crime by dishonestly inducing students to join it using false claims, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) told a Delhi Court on Tuesday night. Seeking remand of Jawad Ahmed Siddiqui, chairman and founder of the university, whom it had arrested on Tuesday evening on money laundering charges, the Central Probe agency said in its remand papers: “The University and its controlling trust, under the direction of arrestee/ accused, have generated proceeds of crime of at least about Rs 415.10 crore, by dishonestly inducing students and parents to part with money on the basis of false accreditation and recognition claims.” The university has come under the scanner after three doctors working there were identified as suspects in the November 10 Red Fort blast.

Landing: A day after his asylum application was turned down by a Louisiana Court in the US, gangster Anmol Bishnoi, who is wanted as the main plotter in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in October last year, is being deported from the US and scheduled to reach India on Wednesday morning, sources said. Anmol is the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. “Orders have been issued for deployment of multiple teams of Delhi Police at the IGI Airport. As per discussions so far, it has been decided that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) will produce him in a court to get his custody,” the officer said.

AQI at alarming levels: The Delhi-NCR pollution is showing no sign of abating and is now alarming. While the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines specify a maximum of 15 μg/m3 of PM (particulate matter) 2.5 exposure in 24 hours, the figure is nearly 26 times higher in Delhi-NCR. As per air quality tracker aqi.in, the PM 2.5 level was 384 μg/m3 at 7 AM on Wednesday. The overall AQI, rose to 543 at 7 am on Wednesday, as per aqi.in. This is equivalent to inhaling the smoke from more than 12 cigarettes a day.

Delhi News LIVE Updates: Anmol Bishnoi lands in IGI airport

Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, the key accused in the October 12, 2024 murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, has been deported from the US and landed at the IGI Airport in New Delhi, a day after a Louisiana court denied his asylum plea. Anmol, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, will likely be taken into custody by the NIA.

Security has been tightened at Terminal 3 of the Indira Gandhi International Airport ahead of his arrival. According to a senior police officer, Anmol was flown back along with two others wanted in Punjab.

Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, the “main plotter” in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique in Mumbai, has been deported from the US and is scheduled to reach India Wednesday. Officials from the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and Delhi Police were deployed at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport ahead of his arrival.

Former Enforcement Directorate chief and ex-IPS officer Karnal Singh told The Indian Express that the extradition of a person facing criminal charges in his country is largely a diplomatic exercise that involves bureaucratic and judicial processes. “In all extradition cases, the process remains the same, but Anmol’s extradition may certainly help our agencies bring other criminals or offenders residing abroad back to India in the coming months,” Singh said.

Delhi News LIVE Updates: AQI in Delhi-NCR

Among other areas in the National Capital Region, Noida and Greater Noida of Uttar Pradesh are recording pollution levels that are shooting through the roof. At 7 AM on Wednesday, the AQI level in the two cities 576 and 548, respectively. In UP’s Meerut, the AQI was 466 at the time.

In Haryana, Faridabad recorded an AQI of 531 at 7 AM. At 398, Haryana’s AQI was a tad lower but still way higher than the safe limit.

Police have started verifying, one by one, the people Umar Nabi – the man who drove a i20 car that exploded near the Red Fort on November 10 – contacted over the last few months based on the call data records of his two missing mobile phones.

With the Delhi Police Special Cell registering a case to probe the “deeper conspiracy” angle in the blast, sources in the police said officers are verifying every person whom Umar spoke to during this time.

According to sources, police suspect that Umar, along with the co-accused in the case, was planning strikes in the Capital as well as in other cities.
