On road to 2024 polls, BJP Delhi chief rekindling old connections
In addition to establishing fresh links, new BJP Delhi chief Virendra Sachdeva is prioritising connecting with its ‘old friends’ on the sidelines of an ongoing expansion drive, party insiders said.
During his daily ‘pravas’, or visits, at different districts, Sachdeva not only makes contact with new potential members, but makes it a point to rekindle his connection with old hands who have been inactive or dormant in regard to the party’s organisational affairs for various periods of time, according to sources.
Sachdeva, who insiders said is known for his contact building and organisational skills, maintains a register of such “old inactive members”, whom he interacts with during such visits to learn how a particular district has evolved over time in terms of issues and demographics.

Congress leader vacated his official bungalow at 12, Tughlaq Lane today.
A day after some khaps from Haryana and Uttar Pradesh announced that they would organise a show of support for former Jammu and Kashmir governor Satya Pal Malik, the meet was disrupted before it could start, with the police saying they had no permission to gather at a park in South Delhi’s RK Puram area. His supporters also alleged Malik was arrested by the police from RK Puram police station, an allegation that the police denied. They said Malik had come to the police station of his own accord and was free to leave as he desired.
This comes a day after Malik was called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to answer queries pertaining to an alleged Reliance insurance scam case.
What happened?
Malik’s supporters gathered in the park at around 11.30 am. A white tent had been put up to shield the participants from the heat, carpets had been laid out and over 100 chairs were set up. BKU leader Gurnam Singh Charuni alleged that khap pradhans and Malik were “arrested” in R K Puram.”Like I had apprehended yesterday, because of the statements that he has given in favour of the farmers, the BJP might, given its nature, go after Satyapal Malik ji and soon he got CBI summons,” Charuni added.
"He had organised a program of Khap leaders near his house but this was forcibly stopped by police and we have all been arrested by police," Charuni further alleged. "We are at Vasant Kunj police station and Governor saab is at the RK Puram police station," he said.
"We are getting lots of calls from supporters who want to affect Chakka jams and come out onto the streets, but I request you to hold on for the moment," Charuni added. "We will consult among ourselves regarding the way forward and tell you, remain calm but do remain alert," he said.

The Delhi High Court has held that a “decree of divorce breaks the marital tie” making the couple competent to remarry and even in an “ex parte decree of divorce” remarriage is lawful if an appeal is not filed within the stipulated time.
A division bench of Justices Sanjeev Sachdeva and Vikas Mahajan, in its April 21 order, said, “It is trite that the dissolution of marriage is complete once the decree is made. A decree of divorce breaks the marital tie and the parties forfeit the status of husband and wife in relation to each other. Each one becomes competent to contract another marriage as provided by section 15 of the (Hindu Marriage) Act”.
