Bureaucrat-turned-politician Shah Faesal through his counsel advocate Tassaduq Khwaja filed a PIL in the High Court here on Monday, seeking quashing of the order passed by state administration last week.
Governor Satya Pal Malik said more troops had been deployed as “after the Pulwama incident, the security concerns have become much higher, with the possibility of terrorist organisations increasing their activities against candidates and voters.”
The Governor reiterated that the people need not panic and the induction of forces be seen only in the context of conducting elections. He appealed to the people to remain calm and not to believe in rumours of curfews.
"At a time when the democracy is in suspension, the KEG is seeking the attention of the Press Council of India and the Editors Guild of India to exercise their legal, ethical and professional mandate to intervene in the issue," the guild said in a statement.
