Delhi AQI: Recording a dip, the air quality in Delhi fell under the ‘poor’ category as of 5.30 am on Friday (October 24). The national capital recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 293, four days after the region celebrated Diwali. This is a dip from the 325 AQI recorded on Thursday and 345 on Wednesday.
The highest AQI was recorded at Anand Vihar and Akshardham (403), falling under the severe category.
Many other regions across Delhi-NCR remained in the ‘poor’ or ‘moderate’ category. Medical professionals have advised residents to limit outdoor activities in the National Capital Region to just the essentials till the AQI goes back to at least ‘moderate’.
The AQI reading is categorised as Good (0-50), Satisfactory (51-100), Moderately Polluted (101-200), Poor (201-300), Very Poor (301-400), and Severe (401-500). Higher the AQI reading, the unhealthier it is to breathe.
Around 5.30 am, Delhi recorded a temperature of 17.6oC, according to RMC. The maximum temperature will be around 31oC-33oC and the minimum around 17oC-19oC, forecasts IMD. The sky will be mainly clear with mist or haze during the morning hours.
