In the second shooting incident on the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR) in less than a month, a Delhi man was shot dead on Monday night.
In a statement, the police said that Shokeen had borrowed his elder brother’s car to go to Noida. “Around 8:57 pm, the victim’s cousin informed his elder brother (who is the complainant in the case) that Shokeen had been shot. Later, police confirmed the incident. The elder brother, along with family, reached the spot where they found the car parked and blood on the road. Unknown assailants who came on a bike, and were holding a grudge, killed him. A case has been registered at the Kherki Daula police station. Initial investigation revealed that the assailants fired 7-8 shots at the scene,” the spokesperson added.
According to the police, Shokeen was rushed to a nearby hospital after Virender Saini, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Manesar, and multiple police teams reached the site upon receiving the information about the incident.
Shokeen was declared dead on arrival at the hospital, as per officers. Authorities have yet to make any arrests in this connection.
The police are making every effort to identify and arrest the perpetrators, the spokesperson added
The development comes a little over a fortnight after singer-rapper Rahul Fazilpuria was shot at on the Southern Peripheral Road section near Badshahpur in Gurgaon’s Sector 71. He had escaped unhurt in the incident.
Fazilpuria was allegedly standing near his SUV when the attackers arrived in another car and opened fire. Soon after, the singer got into his car and sped away. The attacker could not chase him due to the traffic, and he reportedly managed to escape.
According to Fazilpuria, the attackers fired at him multiple times, but he was not injured and his vehicle was not damaged. Soon, the police arrested a Sonipat resident who allegedly carried out the recce for the shooting.
