Children With Special Needs (CWSN) studying in the capital’s government schools, will now get pick-and-drop facility to reach school. The Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (SSA) has disbursed Rs 1.52 crore to schools to provide the facility.

Schools will spend Rs 250 on a child per month to provide the facility. Children will be picked up from their homes and dropped back after school.

All government-run schools, including those run by the Directorate of Education, the civic corporations and the Delhi Cantonment Board, have been provided money for the facility.

Students from Class I to VIII, irrespective of the degree of disability, will be eligible for the pick-and-drop.

“Getting children with special needs physically inside schools is a major issue. The escort facility will help convince parents to let these children sit in classrooms,” a source said.
