Delhi: EPCA orders complete construction ban, govt staggers office timings

EPCA also ordered closure of hot mix plants and stone crushers till Tuesday, along with closure of all industries that have still not shifted to using natural gas (except power plants) to avoid the addition of more pollutants to air.

EPCA chairperson also said that agencies need to ensure compliance as despite efforts, many instances of local pollution were being noticed.

The Delhi government, meanwhile, decided to stagger working hours for several offices and departments during the odd-even scheme.

“This is the first experiment of staggered office timings. Private offices are not included but next time we will consider staggered timings for them too,” Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said.

According to an order issued by the general administration department, working hours of a total of 42 government offices have been staggered, with 21 having office timings from 10.30 am to 7 pm and rest from 9.30 am to 6 pm.

The order said the new office timings will only be applicable during the odd-even scheme from November 4-15.
