Delhi on Tuesday inched closer to the 1,000 mark as it recorded 980 fresh cases of Covid-19 along with a test positivity rate of 25.98 per cent.
According to the health bulletin, two deaths were reported in which Covid finding was incidental in one case and the case sheet on the other death was awaited.
Between March 30 and April 10, the capital recorded 15 fatalities, including four deaths, on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Delhi Monday issued an advisory for its staff to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour after four senior faculty members and several other employees tested positive recently.
The hospital staff and doctors have been asked to wear masks and avoid gatherings, especially in canteens.
They have been advised to discourage the entry of visitors into the office complex and avoid gatherings of five or more people in any place and allow entry to visitors with permission only after screening.
“Employees who are at a higher risk – older or pregnant employees and those with underlying medical conditions – should take extra precautions,” said the order.
On Tuesday, Delhi Health Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj visited Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital to inspect the Covid ward, OPD, and the Drug Control Department and Central Store.
He took stock of other aspects, including the availability of beds, medicines, medical staff, testing labs, medical equipment, and oxygen availability in the hospital.
He also inspected the isolation ward set up in the hospitals and ensured that there are adequate number of beds and oxygen cylinders in the ICU ward, and ventilators in the hospital. He instructed the hospital administration to maintain its preparations with full promptness.
Bhardwaj also directed to take appropriate steps to increase the number of OPD and pharmacy counters at the hospital.
