Bureaucratic reshuffle in Delhi; new postings in LG house, DDA, MCD, NDMC
On Tuesday, six bureaucrats were part of a reshuffle within Delhi impacting bodies such as the Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the Delhi Development Authority, the New Delhi Municipal Council and sub-divisions under the Delhi government's revenue department.
Sources said three secretary-level posts at the Centre – those in the Department of Legal Affairs, Defence Production and Consumer Affairs – were scheduled to fall vacant in March and the Centre may issue an order this month to fill these on the heels of the Lok Sabha elections.
Even as multiple Secretary-level posts at the Centre are vacant, the Delhi government effected a bureaucratic reshuffle across various posts in the capital’s civic bodies as well as the Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat on Tuesday.
According to sources, several senior IAS officers had come to the end of their tenure at the helm of postings in Delhi government departments as well as civic bodies and were scheduled to be empanelled at the Centre; this would have ripple effect on more postings in Delhi and was likely to be the last such exercise before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as the Model Code of Conduct will be put in force in the run-up to the elections.
